The three girls and I had a great ski today. We started off from the Hickory Wing shelter and skied the East Touring trail to the woodlot cutblock where we found 6″ of great powder snow. We skied to the treeline, had lunch, and then enjoyed the great ski back down to the highway where we followed the highway trail back to the parking area. It was surprising to see how much activity has happened since the last snowfall, both on the East Touring trail and going up the Birchleg trail. We encountered two other sets of skiers as well as some snowshoers. The reason for the low turnout was because some of our group are sick with a cold/flu as well unpacking from their recent trip to Wells.
It was a great day.

Well, there’s not quite enough snow on our Tabor trails so we had to relocate to Bear Lake. The Caledonia Nordic Ski Club groomed the trails yesterday and conditions were great. We had 9 skiers out in our group and encountered about 25 or 30 others – it was a fun day. Cheers, Norm
